Some rough sketches from my studio art class + boredom-induced scribbling at home. reference drawing was never my forte but a month or so of practice has paid off so far. the annotated sketches from class are particularly hard on the eyes as I wasn’t allowed to use an eraser in spite of how many glaring mistakes I made, with the added consequence of accidental dark lines lending to crappy inaccurate shading.
additionally, I’ve been trialing a new grip ever since being told by doctors that my awkward claw-like pencil hold is damaging the tissue in my right hand; when I first started using it about four months ago it was a nightmare, I felt as though I had no control over my pen. it’s been easier lately though, and I’m starting to welcome the fluidity that such a (relatively) loose grip brings as it does help with sketching.
I’ve also been recently inspired to achieve perfect ambidexterity… because here is what drawing with my non-dominant hand yields:

Hopefully posting this will be useful in documenting my progress. next artistic weakness for me to attempt to abolish: perspective.
had my lip pierced. I didn’t expect it to suit my face this well so I’m pretty happy with it. feel free to euthanise me if I start contemplating snakebites.
